Borrowed a cup? We can help.

Charged for a cup you returned?

We do not know your name. Tap&Reuse™ works without an account, so we identify a borrow by the payment reference, not by you. That is why the form asks for the transaction details from your banking app.

Common questions

Tap, use, return.

No app. No deposit.

How does Tap&Reuse™ work?

Your cup is placed on a reader at the counter and you tap your payment card to link the cup to your card. No money is taken. Use the cup, then drop it into a collection point at any participating location. Once it is returned, the link to your card is released.

How long do I have to return my cup?

Usually 7 days. Some locations and events set a different window. Scan the QR code on your cup to see your exact return deadline and your nearest return points.

What happens if I do not return it?

If the cup is not returned within the return window, a non-return fee is charged to the card you tapped. For a coffee cup this is normally 3 GBP or 3 EUR. The amount varies by item. Once the fee is charged, the cup is yours to keep.

Where do I return my cup?

At any collection point in the same partner network. That may be a self-service return bin or a smart bin, depending on the location. Scan the QR code on your cup to see every return point available to you.

I returned my cup but I was still charged

Apologies, we will sort it out. Fill in the refund request form using the button at the top of this page and we will take it from there. Outside the United Kingdom, email care@kleenhub.com instead.

I do not recognise this charge

Fill in the refund request form using the button at the top of this page and we will look into it. Outside the United Kingdom, email care@kleenhub.com instead.

Can I borrow more than one cup?

Yes. Let the person serving you know, and all the items can be linked to your card with a single tap. You are responsible for returning everything you borrow, including anything borrowed for someone else.

I lost the lid

Return the cup without it. As long as the cup comes back within the return window, no fee is charged.

I broke my cup

If the lid is broken, return the cup within the return window and no fee is charged. If the cup itself is broken, the fee still applies.

I lost the cup

The non-return fee is charged once the return window closes.

Can I just keep the cup?

Yes. Keep it past the return window, the non-return fee is charged, and the cup is yours.

Are the cups dishwasher safe?

Yes.

Are the cups microwave safe?

Yes. Remove the lid first and avoid overheating.

How are the cups cleaned?

Every returned cup is commercially washed to food safety standards, either on site or by an approved wash partner, before going back into circulation.

What do you know about me?

Very little, by design. We do not ask for your name, your address or your date of birth, we do not create an account for you, and we never see or store your full card number.

What we do hold for a borrow is a reference to the payment method you tapped, supplied by our payment provider, the identifier of the item, and the time and place it was borrowed and returned. That is what lets us release the link to your card when the cup comes back. Full details are in our Privacy Policy.

Do I need an app or an account?

No. There is nothing to download and no account to create. You tap the payment card, phone or watch you already use.
